New South Wales
On Monday 18 June 2007, 35 Alumni attended a
Cocktail Party, co-hosted by the Hon Barrie Unsworth (CSC1974) and the Hon
Milton Morris AO (CSC1956) held in the Strangers Lounge, NSW Parliament
House, Macquarie Street, Sydney. Given the extreme wet and windy weather
conditions it was a very successful turn out with most remaining until the
closing hour of 8.30pm! All years were represented with the exception of
1980 and 1998. Four Alumni presented their feedback at recent conferences:

Everyone remarked that it is was more than
worthwhile to hear Alumni experience given their diverse and engaging
presentations. For many it more than bought back memories of their own
Alumni experience.

April 2007, Ms
Joan Spiller, CSC1986 hosted drinks for Mr P Balaji, CSC2003 visiting
Melbourne on business from New Delhi, India. Balaji's Group Leader in 2003,
Mr George Wright was in attendance along with several other members from
2003.
February 2007,
The CSC2007 Victorian Selection Panel held drinks at the City Wine Shop in
the Melbourne CBD to welcome the successful Victorian CSC2007 participants
and to provide an informal opportunity for other alumni to share their
experiences with the new members.
November 2006,
Ms Susan Crawford, CSC2003, convened a dinner for Queensland Alumni, in
Brisbane to welcome EPLD06 participants, and to discuss interest in there
being a regular get together of alumni. Dinner was held in the cellar at
F.I.X restaurant at the Port Office Hotel, one of the oldest pubs in
Brisbane. A small gathering of 10 joined the occasion, including one of our
CSC 2003 alumni members from Townsville and another who was a New Zealand
CSC2003 member now living in Australia. Mr Tom Barton (now retired Minister
of the Queensland State government) kept us all entertained with his
fabulous story telling. All enjoyed a lovely dinner, fine wines, lots of
reminiscing and tale telling of CSCs past.
On Thursday 5 July 2007 a number of Western
Australian Alumni met for dinner in South Fremantle at the very hospitable
Italian pizza restaurant Ruocco’s Pizza Bar & Restaurant. Those in
attendance included Peter Kenyon (CSC 1968), Brian Galton-Fenzi (CSC1986),
Vanessa Guthrie (CSC2003), Neil Smithson (CSC2003) and Libby Lee (CSC2007).
Rilka Macainsh (CSC2003) was visiting from Canberra. The group very much
enjoyed the opportunity to meet up - in some instances for the first time.
It was also agreed such an event was more than worthwhile with discussion
focusing on the holding of a future Alumni activity in the latter months of
2007.
March 2007,
Alumni attended the Commonwealth Day Dinner, 12 March,
at the Great
Hall, at the Australian National University. His Excellency The
Governor-General was guest of honour and dinner speaker. The event was
organised by the ACT Division of the Commonwealth Roundtable Society. It is
hoped this event will be encouraged in other States next year.
The annual
meeting of the CSCNZ Council (which includes all CSC/EPLD alumni in NZ) was
held on Monday 21 May at the Mercure Hotel, Wellington. Refreshments and a
light buffet luncheon will be available from 12.30-1.00pm. This will also
be an opportunity to hear from recent alumni who took part in CSC 2007. |
